Cardigan Craze

A Staple for Every Woman's Closet:
The Cardigan!

Formally known as rather matronly garb, the cardigan is making a glorious come back! Cardis are such an asset to a woman's closet because its sheer versatility. Whether you're rockin' a statement Cardi or giving your closet many more options, cardis may JUST be what your day-to-day fashion is yearning for!

*Cardis as Tunics*

In these two creations I utilize cardis as tunics (hence the title) but couple them differently.
In the first creation, I sport a long cream cardi, rusty orange tank, chocolate leggings, and my beloved rain boots making a functional, fun, and sassy rainy day statement! As opposed to the second creation where I wear a newly hand-me-downed navy with gold buttons cardi (thanks Ma!), plain white tank, skinny jeans and black flats. I jazzed up this number by adding to the gold theme with a chunky gold necklace and gold earrings!

*Have fun with solid cardis! Mix up your coordinating colors, like in the 1st creations, or add on fun bling to sass it up, just like number2!!!

*Statement Cardis*

These creations were completely and totally dictated by the pattern of these cardis!
This first creation has a fabulous floral print (very important for your summer garb!) and absolutely constitutes as a cardi as a tunic! I chose to put this floral wonder with my jeggings, a fat brown center belt, brown patent pumps (compliments of the thrift store), topped off with my bronze & olive drop earrings. The second is a more casual approach at the statement cardi but it still speaks volumes! This fab DG2 pink & gold embellished cardi takes the spot light over my plain white tank, skinny jeans, camel flat boots, tan & gold center belt and my gold rims.

*Spice up your solid cardis by adding a jazzy center belt! Rock that "mommy sweater"  with the help of a belt and the perfect shoes!

*Cardis & Maxis*

If you're like me, then you're in a love obsession with your maxi dresses... especially in the summer time! Unfortunately, where most maxis are either tube topped, skinny strapped, or other cuts that are normally frowned upon for the work place. Cardis come to the rescue!!!

Being quite possibly the most GLORIOUS maxi I have ever encountered, I was somewhat saddened thinking that I could not wear it to work being that it is just so damn comfortable. Luckily, I opted to toss a simple black cardi over my bare shoulders (the maxi is a tube top), add on my black rims, silver peace sign earrings, platinum wedge flips, and a bold turquoise ring and my "hang-out only" maxi became an instant office hit! Following my number 1 favorite maxi would be the runner-up in the second photo. This light pink, skinny strapped Grecian-esqe maxi would not have been appropriate without my navy blue cardi! I added a fun iridescent flowered headband, gunmetal flower earrings and the gunmetal wedge flips to top off this creation!

*Explore the options of your closet with the aid of a cardi! Summer maxis soon become your go-to office wear thanks to the cardi!

*1 Cardi x 3*

These three looks are made fabulous by the use of my newest addition, an olive cardi with simple olive flowers around the neckline. Now a cardi like this may come across as a limited wear but, as I show here, there are SO many possibilities!!!
Cardi Creation 1-Casual: Here I paired my cardi with a plain white tank, brown jeweled wedges, and boy-cut khaki capris (truly "boy"-cut seeing how I bought them in the men's section of the thrift store!). I accented this neutral creation with a loud blue/green/bronze jeweled cross making a super comfy Casual Friday look!
Cardi Creation 2- Dressy: Underneath my fabulously buttoned cardi lays a VERY drab, mauve long tunic/dress that resembles something like a potato sack on its own. To make this piece wearable, the olive cardi compliments the mauve tunic/dress swimmingly while my olive & chocolate Military heels make the creation a slam dunk!
Cardi Creation 3- Dressy Casual: Though this creation leans more towards the casual than the dressy realms, there is no doubting the edginess of this outfit. Seemingly difficult to see in this photo (I'm not a photographer... I'm a fashionista), I chose to rock a Christian Audigier embellish tank with my cardi along with my wide-leg jean capris and brown jeweled wedges for a dinner date with my hunny! Let's just say that it was definitely approved by Cesar!

*Lesson to be learned: Despite a matronly past, the cardi is a staple to your closet! Make your creations with pride and sass! Never fear the Cardi!

Green With Envy

Make 'em Envious with "Nothin' But a T-Shirt On":
*Green T x 3*

Though we are a little past St. Pattie's Day, these three creations, showcasing my favorite green T-shirt, are enough make any Leprechaun jealous!

*On a Casual Friday*

In this creation I found myself bringing a rather Springy shade of green into Fall  simply by pairing the T with darker hues and, my personal favorite, brassy accents.Wearing my green T with dark wash jeggings, black with brass buttons half jacket, Twiggy cognac low top boots with brass accents, and a chunky, glorious multi-stranded necklace, I brightened my outfit with the simplicity of a plain T.

*This creation exhibits a perfect example of how to easily get your favorite T-shirt into the work place.... A jacket! Even a Caridgan would suffice... more to come on those in the near future!

*On My Last Day of School*

Known for our Green & Gold, I chose to pay partial tribute to my school before becoming an Alumni by wearing my green T. I spiced up my T with a black tie-dye mini, my favored faux Chanel necklace, and gunmetal heeled flips making this creation a fab way to become a Bull-Alum!

*Add a bright colored T/Tank/Top with an outfit with darker colors to liven up  your drab colored creations!

*From Dawn Till Dusk*

Wanting something cute, comfortable and versatile, I created this look knowing that I long day ahead! Beginning with my green T, I added my dark jeans, (my newest Spring/Summer staple) chunky rope cross wedges, and a gold-coined RJ Graziano long necklace to make the outfit that took me to the dentist's office, to work, to a play reading, to dinner. Keeping a cream Cardigan in my purse was back up for something dressier or for warmth!

*My biggest suggestion/tip: Buy nude or rope wedges. They are going to be pivotal for the coming seasons! Find the right pair and you'll wear them to death! (My wedges are Steve Madden purchased at Shii!)

Having many different solid Ts, tanks, and tops can add so many possibilites to your closet. Think of all the skirts, pants, shorts, capris, etc. that you will be able to reinvent!
