Summer-Ssentials!

Staples for Summer:
Minis & Wedges!

Here in Florida the weather is HOT just like my favorite Summer-ssentials! As I was browsing my closet and purchasing staples for my upcoming vaca (eep!!!), I realized that there was a reoccuring trend amongst my must-haves... Mini skirts & wedges. Here are just a few ways these summer-ssentials prove to be creation-makers!

Three Fun Finds!

Each of these looks showcase my love affair with minis & wedges! These three creations have more than just minis & wedges in common... Solids & statement necklaces.
#1: A jean mini (talk about versatile!) paired with a white top with lace sleeves hold the base of this creation. By adding my white Jessica Simpson wedges and a fabulous RJ Graziano necklace this creation went from simple to sassy & summery!
#2: For a night of summer dancing with my sweetie, I chose this creation of a khaki fitted mini, a voluminous gray top, and some funky gunmetal accents. I topped off the look with my nude Steve Madden wedges!
#3: A flirty purple lace mini plus my pearl v-neck top with a jeweled purple choker and my white JS wedges to boot gave me a fun little dinner outfit with the family!

*All of these minis can be interchanged with different tops to create all new looks! Remember the importance of solid T's & tanks this season!

Mini x 2 (Part 1!)

As I have expressed in past blogs, olive is an incredibly versatile color and I was detemined to find an olive piece perfect for summer... and I did! After endless searching, I finally found this one-of-a-kind ruffled olive mini on a super cool website called ModCloth.com (thank you Linds!).
These two creations exhibit a bold creation versus a subtler creation, both equally as fantastic!

*Experiment with accent jewelry. Like I did here, try one look with big earrings and a statement bracelet or with a chunky necklace, simple studs, and a fabulous ring! Your creations become infinite with simply changing up your accessories!

Mini x 2 (Part 2!)

This mini is my personal favorite. Inspired by Haley (from this season's American Idol), I was drawn to the mini for its color (totally neutral and endlessly useful) and its cut (short, sweet and sexy). Just as I have expressed in the two sections preceeding this one, these creations include all the summer-ssentials and key points!
#1: A plain black tank, THE mini, nude SM wedges, and a seriously loud flower necklace!
*Night Life Love*
#2: A plain white T, THE mini, white JS wedges, and fun drop earrings!
*Day into Night Fabulous*

*Invest in wedges & minis to amp up your summer wardrobe!*

My Fashion Icon

My Hero, My Idol, & My Fashion Icon:
My Mama!!!
In light of Mother's Day, I felt that this is the perfect time for me to finally put the spotlight on the woman who is responsible for my passion for fashion (and everything else in life)! My Mama (formally known as Bobbi Ray Carter from HSN) is not only a fashion icon to me but also to the rest of the nation! With that being said, I will do my very best to give justice to her amazing, evolving, and glorious sense of fashion. Here's to the most beautiful, gorgeous and foxy 5* year old out there!!!
*Formal Attire!*
                                            #1                                            #2
      #3

I wanted to begin with my Ma's totally fabulous formal attire because she rocks some seriously fashion-forward choices all with thanks to her perfect petite stature!
#1: Aside from my Ma's silly (and appropriate) expression, I adore this incredibly detailed Metallic woven mini. The mini, itself, being crafted simply for someone her size not only compliments her body but is very sexy for being so "covering" (I'm using the term loosely). Pairing this creation with some strappy silver heels and gold accented jewelry, this one-of-a-kind mini proves that my Mama is a knockout!
#2: I, personally, find it difficult to pull off a cream piece. My Ma, on the other hand, rocks cream on a regular basis.... she's inspiring me to think twice about cream! She certainly makes the right choice with this cream Chanel mini with simple nude heels (as to not distract from the mini). This piece is one of my mom's favorites and it's clear why: IT'S JUST PLAIN GLORIOUS.
#3: I've saved the best creation for last. This leopard ruched dress is a perfect form fitting piece for her stature and her choice of black patent Mary Jane's adds a little extra classic spice. The best part about this? The dress is on backwards!!! As she was evaluating the dress she asks me if I think she could pull off wearing it backwards (seeing how zippers are so very fashionable right now), and you can see how I replied!

*Try a bold move like Ma did with putting a fab dress on backwards! You'll never know if you don't try!

*Dressy Causal Garb!*
                                           #1                                                 #2

I chose to highlight these two creations for the fact that I wanted to showcase her choices for day versus night dressy causal occasions! And it's clear that I like to mirror what my Ma wears... just in my own way!
#1: For a luncheon in LA, my fabulous Mama chose an edgy L.A.M.B. L.B.D. accented with black leather with white stitching pumps and simple silver jewelry. I also love how she flipped her hair out in a Farrah Fawcett-esque way.
#2: For my birthday dinner in NYC, Mama created a (literally) traffic stopping look. Wearing a funky knit patterned top with a tight black skirt, she puts the icing on the cake with bold patterned tights and knee high black boots. She wore her hair somewhat curled inwards to "formalize" her creation! Needless to say she is, was, and always will be beautiful.

*Simple changes to your hair, just like Ma flipped her's outwards then curled her's inwards, can give your creation a flirtier feel or a more formal feel!
*Casual Creations!*
                                              #1                                                   #2

Now I truly wish that I could post ALL the photos of my Ma's fantastic daily causal creations because they are ALWAYS glorious, and I have chosen these two to show a Fall creation versus a Winter creation!
#1: This creation is one that I very regularly copy. It's simply. It's sexy. And best of all, it's comfortable. Ma rocks a plain white T, fabulous jeans with white stitching, tan flat boots, and one perfect statement necklace. My Ma showed me how to "fashionize" any hum-drum outfit with the simple use of a long necklace... for this I share it with you!
#2: For her birthday, Ma decided to rock some black leggings (a staple for us both), black flat knee-high boots, a CREAM (I said she likes cream!) tunic, and a black beaded vest. I had been protesting vests until I saw my Ma in this creation! This vest had been living in Ma's closet for quite literally decades when it finally made it's reappearance, it revived the trend of the vest!

*Spice up your simple creations with statement jewelry! Revisit past trends and incorporate them into your fashion forward creations! Become a trend setter just like my Mama!

For my stunning Mama.....

Mama,
Everyone is told that "Mother Knows Best" but many people do not have the luxury of having that quote apply to fashion sense and I am the luckiest girl in the world to have you as my Ma! You're the reason I reach for the stars, the reason I strive to be the best and the reason I never give up.
Thank you for "creating" me!!!

I LOVE YOU!
