Functional Fashion!

They're Fun. They're Functional. They're Fashionable.
They're.... Rain Boots!

No matter where you are in this world (with the exception of the Sahara), you're bound to experience rain. Therefore, I highly suggest investing in a funky pair of rain boots that scream... YOU!  Why not have a fab pair of feet-shielding, fashion-forward puppy huggers!

My adored boots were a gift from my Daddy... a girl's best friend! So a BIG Thank you to my Daddy for giving me my favorite functional fashion piece!!!

*Contrasting Colors*

As seen here, my favored rain boots are a smorgasbord of colors... certainly being what sold Daddy and me on these bad boys!
With this creation I chose a tangerine colored DG2 tunic, chocolate Rhonda Shear leggings, a bronze center belt (compliments of the thrift store), and a tribal-esque (*Noelleism) beaded necklace. The tangerine tunic distracts a good bit away from my rain boots... if that's even possible! As you'll see in the other two creations following, this creation focus more attention on my top instead of my rain booties.

*I know I always say it but honestly.... Never fear bold and contrasting colors! Wear you... and Rock it!

*Business on top: Party on bottom*
(Yes that was a nod to the famed mullet!)

Here I chose a taupe dress, cream "sweater" tights, a long strand of miss-matched beads, and my boots... in ALL of their glory! As seen in an early post about a week of my work garb, this creation is extremely dull (color wise) on top with my rain boots as the full attention grabber. With the exception of my multi-colored coat that I shed as soon as I arrived at work, my boots spiced up this rather hum drum outfit!

*Buy a pair of rain booties that are super versatile. Even if there is a 10% chance of rain... WEAR THEM!

*Color Coordinated*

Instead of choosing loud contrasting colors, like in my first creation, here I went for a focus on the blues: from the long ruffle-sleeved tunic to the multi-stranded necklace to the blue trim of my entire rain boots. To mildly separate the blues, I chose my gray leggings... my go to for subtlety!

(Yes, I purposely took the photo standing in the puddle to prove my functionality point! Thanks Michelle for always taking my crazy pics!)

*If you're still second guessing buying a pair of these rain booties, the bottom line is that (even if you wear them once a year) on a rainy day when your girls are complaining of not wearing a pair of super cute shoes because of the weather, you'll be able to rock your rain boots and have warm, dry feet!!!!

Fun Fashion Friend of the Month!

Showcasing Ms. March:
*Alexandra*
I would like to introduce to you my best friend/sister/wife, of whom I have known since I was 2 years old, Alexandra! Besides being the best friend ever created, she is one hell of a beauty, inside and out! Alexandra always compliments her lovely curves in her signature, what I like to call, conservative-sexy taste! So here's a select few of Alexandra's rockin' creations...

*Simple & Sexy*
With a pair of dark skinny jeans, low top black boots, a smart, sexy, sleek gray top, a chunky black watch and black jeweled headband, Alexandra shines in simple & sexy. The button down top gives two sexy peeks of skin to pump up the sexiness! It's also important to note how Alexandra wears her hair back (but jeweled) to show off that skin!
*I love how Alexandra rocks the chunky watch. The watch is such a classic piece and she wears it with glory & grace.... as can you!

*Classic Glam*

For my step dad's big birthday bash, a cocktail attire affair, Alexandra "wow"ed everyone in this fabulously classic red lace mini dress. She chose to accent the dress in a black jeweled necklace, stud earrings (though not visible), bracelet, basic black center belt, and black low top boots, which gave the dress all of it's much deserved attention! Though she was blessed with lovely hoots, this dress conservatively (I'm using this term loosely) covers and hugs her shape perfectly! It was a classic glam creation!

*Alexandra's curled locks put this creation into glam status. Regardless of the fact that it took 2 hours, I urge you to try it for yourself. Want to dress up a somewhat dull outfit? Take the time, curl that hair of yours, and rock all your hard work!

*Courageous Colors*

Just to go to sushi for dinner one night, Alexandra chose this creation which quickly made it to my favorites list! She wore dark skinny jeans, a purple & gold striped tank, olive sweater with brass buttons, a chunky gold watch and brown boots. The purple, olive, brown  and gold compliment each other SO well. I love her courageous choice of color combination!!!

*My favorite part of this creation is definitely her choice of tank with her sweater. I challenge you to find a sweater in your closet and choose a contrasting color to pair it with other than the basics!
Use Alexandra's courageousness!

*Complimentary Hoot Highlighting*

Going casual cute to a house party, Alexandra chose skinny jeans, a large collared blue blouse, a brown thatched center belt, and brown & amber jeweled jewelry. To showcase her God-given hoots, the blue blouse gracefully highlights them without being "offensive". The large ruffled collar of the blouse distracts some attention away from her direct cleavage line to further the complimentary hoot highlighting!
*If you're heavy hooted, like Alexandra, don't be afraid to flaunt it! Find tops like hers that compliment your hoots instead of over-showing them!

*Baby-doll Beauty*

This midnight blue baby-doll dress, with sequined top and rouched bottom, is a statement piece on it's own. But to amp up this creation, Alexandra showcased the dress with black tights, black cardigan, black heeled boots, and a rhinestone headband & small drop earrings. This combo really highlights the glory of the baby-doll dress in itself, but also conservatively emphasizes her shape!

*I love this creation because of her fab use of a cardigan. The dress normally being worn in warmer weather and amazingly transformed into a year round creation with the use of cardigan & tights! Explore the options of adding accents to weather stricken dresses to wear them more!
**As always, a huge thank you to Alexandra for being fabulous, supportive, and the world's best friend! Love you boo!**

Conquer "Camouflage"

Mastering the Art of "Camouflage":
The Tummy Pooch

We all have moments, days, eras, et cetera, where we wish to hide our tummy pooch. Keeping in mind that we are ALWAYS our hardest critic, here are a few ideas to help "camouflage" the dreaded belly!

*A Voluminous Top!*

When I'm feeling pudgy, I almost always resort to the biggest top I can find... which isn't usually to choice to make. When I'm not feeling super sexy (and portly) the idea is not to reinforce your "feeling fat" thought by drowning yourself in your sorrows with a gigantic top. Here I've chosen a purple voluminous top that has two vital style "uppers": (1) the top is cinched at the bottom giving you shape, and (2) the ruffles down the center are a slimming touch.
These styled tops not only cover your unwanted pooch but do so in an ego enhancing, attractive top!

*Even if you're feeling "large", dare to wear tight jeans and show off those God-given curves! Your top will "camouflage" the unwanted and still make you feel like the sexy you that you are!*

*Waist-Cinched Dresses!*

#1
On this day I chose a very high-waisted dress with incredibly important vertical stripes! Aside from being one of my favorite finds at a Parisian Flea Market, this dress does wonders in the art of camo! The high-waisted cinch gives the dress its full flow in the bottom half of the bright & bold design and, ultimately, complete tummy coverage. The sexy factor of this dress would be all the shoulder being shown, in a classy way of course!
I topped off this creation with my adored nude pumps and large multi-colored circular hoops.

*When you're experiencing a pudgy/bloated day, it's crucial to take a few extra steps to be sure and feel sexy. Remember that being "pudgy" is almost totally mental!*
 #2

This dress, in contrast, has a more traditional waist line. The cinch of this dress rests right at the end of the ribcage and directly above the pooch. Below the cinch are a few simple pleats that fully "camouflage" your stomach in all of it's bloated glory!
In totality, the dress is quite literally skin tight, which is blatantly sexy. To tone down the dress for work, I chose to rock my boots with the fur, black glasses, simple black studs, and a black & purple Peace sign necklace.
(p.s. I totally bought this at Kmart! Explore your options!)

*Finding a cut of dress that compliments your body style is pivotal. For those who are like me, heavy "bottomed" and light "topped", don't fear a tight dress with the right cut. You've got to flaunt that shape! (And hide the bad in the process of looking fab!)*

*A Deceivingly Decorated Tunic!*

As I have expressed in earlier posts, my endless uses of leggings will never cease to amaze me. The wonderful stretchy nature of leggings is perfect for "fat" days since it can contour to your... girth.
But enough about the leggings, the reason I've chosen this creation to showcase is because of the ruffling of this tunic. The longest ruffle sits exactly over top of my pooch. I sassed up this creation with some fun green & bronze jewelry, flat camel boots, and my gold glasses.

*Though I purchased this tunic in a wholesale shop in London, tunics like this one are extremely popular in stores like Forever 21 (by far my favorite store). Go shopping just for your "gut garb". Find a few pieces that make you feel sexy in a comfortable and concealed manner!*

The bottom line, regardless, is that you are absolutely beautiful just the way you are... and you should always feel and show that!
