Lighten Up

Summerize Your Favorite Dark Looks:
The Wonders of Nude & White!

*Perfect Nude Pumps*

The color black is a girl's best friend for its classic, slimming properties. Though black is accepted throughout the seasons, in summer, I find myself trying to lighten up on my usage on the beloved color. In this creation I sport my favorite wide leg black wash jeans (a staple in my closet), a black rouched sleeved top, my black specs, a long Tori Spelling black & gold long necklace and my pivotal "lightening" piece... my nude pumps!

In the spirit of attending Priscilla: Queen of the Desert in NYC, I felt the need to sparkle things up in my own way! This creation was a fun twist on the classic black on black. Wearing the same black rouched sleeved top as above, I paired the top with a high-waisted black flouncy mini with a sparkly silver underlay (which is sadly hard to see here!), gigantic silver chandelier earrings and, of course, my fantastic nude pumps!
(And a fun thanks to my big sis, Tracey, for taking such fab photos!)

*Though the "lightening" aspects of these creations may seem subtle, their overall effect is exactly what makes these looks summery! Just imagine the first creation with solid black pumps and the second with solid black knee-high boots...

*Perfect White Pieces*

Keeping in the flow of how to lighten up our favorite black looks during summer, this funky L.B.D. by Tiana B. is one of my go-to dresses... no matter the season! The wonders of white are showcased in this creation with the help of a fat white buckled center belt and my adored white wedges. I kept the jewelry simple with vintage style silver drop earrings, a plain silver ring and my black specs! You can't go wrong when it's as clear as black & white!

This "lightening" technique is far different from the others. Instead of using small accents to lighten things up, I chose to center this creation around a crisp solid white DG2 tunic. By adding the warm chocolate leggings and olive cardi (a veteran in my blog favs!), the white is no longer stark but rather toned down. With the help of gold & brown jeweled chandelier earrings, my gold specs and brown jeweled wedges, I created a comfy, cool outfit for a summer's workday!

*Be sure to not overuse white in summer. It's rather easy to do. Instead, experiment with darker/warmer hues to counteract the starkness that white is famous for!
